At Sacher""s Hotel, a military hotel, Martins is introduced o Mr.Crabbin (Wilfrid Hyde-White) of the propagandistic C.R.S.of G.H.Q.(Cultural Re-Education Section), a literary entrepreneur who runs weekly shows (the last two were "Hamlet" and a "striptease" with Hindu dancers)...it""s a subspace transmitter.If they activate the beacon, they""ll be able to establish a link with the Borg living in this century.]Appropriately, Joey is the first to sight the lone figure riding toward the farm.His eyes open wide in awe.As the deer moves away, Joey runs back to the cabin.He locates his father, Joe Starrett (Van Heflin), a determined, hard-working homesteader who toils doggedly to build a life on the land with his family.The credits were re-positioned at the end of the sequence.Other changes included: repaired torn shots, restored sound quality, excisement of "explanatory scenes" added by the studio, re-positioning and trimming of scenes, and restoration of originally-cut footage.
