It was a clever and original mystery tale simply evoked by one sentence written by Greene: "I saw a man walking down the Strand, whose funeral I had only recently attended.In hushed tones, others make secretive travel arrangements o get out: "The trucks are ready.The men are waiting."At another table, a man tells a second man about escaping on the fishing smackSantiago: "It leaves at 1:00 tomorrow night, here from the end of the Medina.It was a classic, high-energy, mad-cap musical spoof of the dashing adventure films in Hollywood""s Golden Age of Swashbucklers (many of which starred Errol Flynn) - with a masked Robin Hood or Zorro character in the forest, the romancing of a Princess-damsel in a tower, wenches, hypnotic spells, dueling, jousting with a knight""s suit of body armor, and much more.They scoff at the idea of a Marshal in Tombstone until they learn his name, setting themselves up for the inevitable conflict:Wyatt: I didn""t get very far with ""em.Dax greets Mireau courteously, but he refuses a chair.Mireau moves continually throughout the scene (putting himself in and out of focus), while the stoic Dax remains stationary:Mireau: I never got the habit of sitting.
