To facilitate their escape, Caesar made a PA announcement to all keepers and handlers: "There""s $50,000 worth of apes in jeopardy.The Buddha says: ""What thou dost not want others to do to thee, do thou not o others.""Ignoring his help, they commence fighting even more vigorously, knocking him down: "Just a sociable free fight for he Jackies - but the sensitive Yellow Man shrinks in horror.His assaultive unhinging is first paired with a longing to connect with a blonde goddess office worker (Shepherd), and then with an attempt to rescue/liberate a young 12-year old prostitute named Iris (Foster) from her predatory pimp "Sport" (Keitel) and her awdry, streetwalking life.He promised, while gloating: "It""ll do anything you tell me to tell it to do for you...If anyone attacks this machine or anything, the computer counter-attacks it.I mean, it finds their weaknesses and wipes them out." Everything went according to plan, except that one tanker in the Atlantic, theBritish Reliance, stubbornly sailed toward Metropolis ("the wrong way").He is given encouragement by a whimsical, endearing, trainee-angel named Clarence (Henry Travers).The story turns Dickensian (similar toA Christmas Carol, although told from Bob Cratchit""s point-of-view rather han from Scrooge""s) when the hysterical, despairing, and melancholy family man is shown what the small town (Bedford Falls, now renamed Pottersville after the town""s evil tycoon) would be like without him.
