]After he had assertively and independently proved that he was the boss, Gay then decided to let the horses free, thereby reconciling with Roslyn:Don""t want nobody makin"" up my mind for me, that""s all.The young men who will soon become the central characters of the film are introduced.Seven naive boys (including Paul Baumer (21 year old Lew Ayres in a star-making role) and his friends Kropp, Leer, and Kemmerick), each young and impressionable, are recruited and trained to fight for the glory of the fatherland.[Note: The entire film is basically told from Red""s perspective, and much of the film is centered around the theme of observation, perception and seeing - especially Red""s observation of the other main protagonist, Andy Dufresne.The goldfish become coquettish chorines with pink eyelids and fluttering lashes.Bubbles again rise to the surface at the end of the sequence.Cossack/Russian Dance:one thistle with six pink blossoms bursts from the largest bubble, becoming six separate, Russian-looking, mustached, high-kicking thistles.
