The film is marvelous for the way in which it crafts its story without contrived, manipulative Hollywood-ish flourishes (often typical of other Spielberg films) - it is also skillfully rendered with overlapping dialogue, parallel editing, sharp and bold characterizations, contrasting compositions of the wo main characters (Schindler and Goeth), cinematographic beauty detailing shadows and light with film-noirish tones, jerky hand-held cameras (cinema verite), a beautifully selected and composed musical score (including Itzhak Perlman""s violin), and gripping performances.The Catholic Legion of Decency and others had considered it sickening and ""degenerate.Its main themes included death, madness, and savage behavior.It featured a fascinating plot, about an already-deceased character named Sebastian, who was the central figure of all of the film""s drama and action.Don Birnam (Ray Milland) and his devoted brother Wick (Phillip Terry, Joan Crawford""s ex-husband #3) are inside their shared, top floor apartment packing for a proposed five-day, extended "long wonderful weekend" trip by train o a country farm where there will be "trees and grass and sweet cider and buttermilk, and water from that well that""s colder than any other.The entry of one of Grutas"" other maids quickly brought bodyguards who foiled Lecter""s plan.As Lecter was held down, Grutas taunted him: "Would you have fed me to your little sister because you loved her?" and he staunchly refused to apologize.Shortly later in Gotham, Bruce/Batman, now wearing an Armored BatSuit, was fully armed with Kryptonite weapons and prepared to combat Superman.
