In many ways, the sci-film comedy was a parody of Truffaut'sFahrenheit 451 (1966).The title "Sleeper" had a number of metaphoric contexts: it specified the 'sleeping' state of the citizens of the 'brave new world' society debased by machines, including the female protagonist.By contrast, Harry has "a dark side" and is obsessed with death, but Sally is "one of those cheerful people who dot their 'i's' with little hearts.(The next day, she also reported to Dr.Challis that she believed someone had tampered with the evidence, since there were no bone fragments or teeth: "I've got nothing here to indicate here was ever a body at all."[Note: This was a veiled reference to something mentioned in Numbers 12:1 that Moses had married a Kushite/Cushite (Ethiopian), who was specifically named by historian Josephus as Princess Tharbis.
