Charlie Chaplin""s films were more overtly thematic, with social commentary and satire, pathos, sentimentality and political engagement, as evidenced in films with his Little Tramp character, includingThe Kid (1921),The Gold Rush (1925),City Lights (1931), andModern Times (1936).[Note: Her name was a combination of the names of two early Hollywood figures: comedy star Mabel Normand, and silent-film director William Desmond Taylor (Normand""s lover), who was murdered in 1922.As the overhead raid began and strafing of the platform by proton torpedo blasts killed many of the Stormtroopers, Jyn emerged from her hiding place and yelled over to her father, who soon after was lethally-wounded by one of the blasts.An unsuspecting, wealthy American man - Rudy Linnekar (Jeffrey Green) (the boss of the town) and his giggling, blonde floozy, mistress/girlfriend Zita (Joi Lansing) [later, we learn she is a striptease dancer] emerge out of the background darkness and get into the car, driving off through the streets toward the US-Mexican border about four blocks away.
